A proposition: great Battle for Wesnoth tournament?
I've had this idea before and mentioned it in our IRC channel, but also in this forum. Now I'm thinking maybe it may really be a good idea and would like to hear if anyone of you would seriously consider joining the effort (and fun). In most parts of the world it is summer now so some of you who may have not had much time for this could find some now. So it might be a good timing.
The idea is to organize a Battle for Wesnoth multiplayer tournament for all interested Nuxified.org members. We can compete individually or we can separate ourselves into teams. Then we can schedule battles at specific times and between specific parties. Battles times can be flexible, but all changes to the original schedules should be announced and everyone participating in a tournament should check frequently.
We can also make up a few guidelines for choosing proper maps for our battles to minimize any unfair competitions.
If there would be enough interest from you guys then we will go to the news sites with this inviting more interesting parties until a certain deadline date when we will structure teams if necessary.
For now, this is just an idea. If we go through with it, it could be a good way to promote Nuxified.org as well as Free Software because by going with it to news sites we can get to know alot more people in a fun way that may later stick with our community and because Battle For Wesnoth is a shining example of a game that is Free Software and working on GNU/Linux - it promotes the fact that GNU/Linux can well be a gaming platform as well.
So, anyone interested? Any thoughts? Suggestions? Let's hear you!
Thanks
Daniel

I would do, only im not very good. And away in a few days.
And that's it? Noone else is interested?
Well I guess it's not gonna happen then.
I would be interested if I played the game in the first place
Freezombie, i never plaied it untill it was mentioned on IRC. It has tutorials for it, which walk you trhough to get started.
Join in..im a noob on it too!
I'm nearly 40 years old. I don't play videogames. In my spare time when not with the kids or wife, I write software to get a startup company off the ground.
Even when I was younger, while my friends played videogames, I was messing around, trying to write game or paint software. When I was in the 14-17 range, videogames on home PCs came in the Commodore64 variety and text adventures were also quite fun. I played a text adventure or two.
For me, writing software and trying to get a startup company off the ground is kind of like a tycoon-kind of game that has some real cash prizes.
I sometimes look at real life as sort of a game too, much like you describe it supermike.
I actually play games quiet rarely, sometimes more and sometimes less. Battle for Wesnoth is one of the better ones I encountered and have spent some time over weekends playing it. It has a very good multiplayer to which everyone can join no matter if you have a slow/laggy or very fast connection. As long as it's stable it's good, so I like that.
And it's a very good quality game too, so I thought it might be suitable for a summer tournament like this, if enough people would be interested.
But it's just an idea for which I thought might contribute to getting more people on Nuxified.org. There may be other ideas too so.. it's alright.
well, now I managed the first scenario, I guess I'm in.
