When I posted a blog post here this morning I was told it had been added to a moderation queue. Is this supposed to be so? if so I take it that it's a move against spam?
There was no such change. Maybe you accidentally deselected the "Publish" box in publishing options below the post.. I just checked and permissions are alright as well as the default state of content of "blog" type. It should go up instantly after submitting unless you deselected "publish".
Hmm, I tried again and had the same problem. I don't see any 'publish' box to check, just preview and submit, and I have the problem after I press submit.
But looking by now my origional blog post has been 'released'.
I just tested it with this "tester" account, multiple times, confirmed the problem and when trying to figure out why is this happening even though all permissions and settings are set to allow immediate posting (without approval required) I noticed the akismet entries in logs. Yes, again akismet screwed things up. That spam catcher is damn good at catching spam, but a bit too good at catching even legal posts apparently.
This is at least second time akismet has been causing trouble and hence I am disabling it indefinitely. Without anonymous posting we don't have that much spam anyway, and for else we'll have to find an alternative spam catcher. This one is a bit too paranoid.
Anyway, this tester has tested again and immediate blog publishing works again, as expected.
Not really. The akismet module did this sort of thing before, even though there were no links in it. It's simply overly sensitive and the central database at akismet.com is probably getting overcrowded by bogus spam identifiers due to accidental and/or maybe even deliberate spam misreports.
For example, when akismet is enabled, everyone with permissions can pretty much accidentally click a "submit spam" button on any post which submits the characteristics of this post to akismet.com database as something for the system to learn to later identify as spam. So after enough reporting of legitimate posts as spam, the system is bound to start filtering even what it's not supposed to.

Yeah I published it.
Ok I'll test it out and see if same happens to me when submitting as normal user.

That was me above, obviously.
Is it maybe if you have a lot of links in the post?

That's at least my guess at it.
