What do you call your computers?
Desktop1 = hinata-lodge (Reference to Love Hina anime)
Desktop2 = bebop (Reference to Cowboy Bebop anime)
Server = hinata-hotspring (Reference again to Love Hina anime)
dylunio

I call my desktop (and only computer I really have) just "libernode"
There is one other computer in house, but that is for sisters and I don't know if they care to give it a name anyway.. maybe I should think of one.
My box's name is raven, in Linux and also in Windows.
My server back in Germany is called Mastermind, since it's the big overseer on the network and also was a pretty nice achievement at the time I first installed it.
I once worked in a cool company where they named all their servers as chess pieces. You'd say, "Did you put that program on Rook?" They'd say, "No, it's on Bishop, today."
Mine are names all after Planets, And the domain is Universe
All except my awkward dad who called his laptop - Sydney
....
Just to wind me up....
Well, i tend to call mine stuff like sadistic and stuff like that, not very creative
Currently, I use a Hitch-Hiker's guide to the galaxy theme:
Desktop: bistromath
Server: magrathea
in the past, it was Harry Potter; my dad still follows it
:
my former desktop: bludger
dad's desktop: nimbus_2000
dad's laptop: hogsmeade
my siblings both use <name>puter ; my mom was always boring... old: <name>s_pc , new: <company> (where company is a webshop...)
. my brother is at least snooping into ubuntu
oh, on ubuntu, my brother uses 'manuel', referring to a character in the Fawlty Towers BBC comedy series.
all computers except mine and that of my brother are full-time Windows
I used to have the Stooges + random names:
servers: curley (RH 7.x), larry (RH 7.x), moe (RH 7.x), shemp (Win 2k AS)
clients: krash (win98se), devel (win2k), liage (win98se)
Then went to planets for servers & moons for clients:
servers: mercury, venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn (all FC 2)
clients: io, eros, titan, pandora (all Win2k)
Now I have alphabet for servers and still moons for clients:
servers: a (FC 4), b (FC 4), c (FC 4), d (FC 5), e (Centos 4)
clients: io (win2k), pandora (FC 5), eros (win2k), titan (win2k)
Interesting naming schemes there guys.
Btw, welcome aboard kode!
The desktops are named (in dutch) after their locations in the house. The name of my laptop is "garden", not because of it's possible location, but short for "short piece of music garden" which is a literal (babelfish) translation from japanese of something I found on an obscure japanese website. (No, not obscure japanese in THAT way
) If I keep that naming scheme, my next computer should be named "sister" from "older sister incident".
My server is Marvin and my main PC is Arthur.
main computer: armitage
secondary computer: rei
file server: hikari
good stuff a thing
Server --> aris
Desktop --> brainless
Laptop --> kanenas (what else ?)
But sometimes they don't obey their master !!!
I wonder why ???
;-)
compuser
Simple but it works out okay.
Laptop = Acer
Desktop = Blackbox
I named the laptop obviously cause it's an acer, but the desktop is named blackbox cause I had this cool background that had blackbox across it, and it gave me the idea to make everything dark and black, for those late nights when bright lights hurt.
I have started to slowly rename mine now to Scottish Citys but in Gealic
So I have DuhnEidean and Glaschu
