It's only a matter of time before Google buys them out. That's just what wikipedia needs.
Wikimedia Foundation is not a corporation that can be bought and I am positive that Jimmy Wales, the founder, wouldn't want to ever do something as outrageous as that even if it was possible.
Their primary mission is providing free knowledge and they operate on donations by the community which they've been doing quite well so far.
Wikipedia is doing great without Google, and I for one are getting pretty sick of the stupid Google logo, long live Mozdex
Not flaming or anything...
Yeah, unfortunately Mozdex has been inactive (and half-working) for a couple of weeks if not more now. There have been no updates on the Mozdex blog and Byron Miller (its founder) isn't replying emails..
I hope that's not permanent. There's another Free Software powered search engine at www.objectssearch.com though. It also has an image, video, audio and wikipedia search.
Anyway, they're not the topic in this thread. Long live Wikipedia!

(I have a love/hate relationship with Google right now over the whole China censorship thing. But I used to think the company was cool.)

Saying Google will buy Wikimedia is like saying Google will buy the FSF.
