Is this happening only to me or have others noticed that the new Firefox 2.0 on Ubuntu Edgy is just unbearably slow when opening a multitude of tabs?

It actually brings my system to a crawl rendering it almost completely unusable until it is, ages later, done with whatever it is doing (e.g. opening a tenth tab or so).

how to edit kernal

I want to know how to edit ubuntu,s kernal to change its desktop for multi desktop.

Anyone knows if there is anywhere a list of all non-free software included in Ubuntu, preferably the newest Edgy release?

The idea is to just make a simple script that will remove all non-free software from Edgy making it a fully Free Software installation, even though the user would still have to watch not to install anything non-free from repos. If you want a fully free Ubuntu you can consider trying gNewSense (personally I think they could use a better name, which I told them).

I've decided to upgrade to Ubuntu 6.10 Edgy RC1 even though the release is soon. The difference between RC and final is usually minimal, and since final will be only a dist-upgrade away, it can't hurt, right? Smiling

Hello all,

I am encountering serious problems trying to use my computer.
I have a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo D 7830 laptop (P4 2.4GHz, 500 Mo RAM, Ati Radeon 9600) running Ubuntu Dapper.
I have used Ubuntu (5.4 and 6.6) for six months now and never had any serious problem. All my hardware is properly supported.
