I also had a quick look into Plan9 by installing and running it in QEmu.

As far as I remember I had some problems using the GUI, I found the usability somehow a little weird. Anyway, I didn't plan to use it much, so I also didn't look around a lot. I guess you just have to get used to it.
The concepts behind Plan9 seem to be pretty interesting though. As far as I remember more or less everything is implemented as some sort of server.

I also don't find this interface pretty and may not maybe even understand the joy of all that is beneath it, but we gotta have an open mind. There must be something in there, surely enough for it not to be called "junk". Eye

people who care more about the innards of an OS than you, perhaps. What I know about Plan 9 is that it uses the UNIX concepts, but doesn't make excuses - which may be very vague.
