Yeah, netpanzer seems to have lost some of its userbase.. there used to be more servers at this time before. But there are still some users coming in when there is at least one server...
Maybe our "clan" doesn't have to be limited to one game though. If we organize ourselves, loosely, like that, we can just have threads for each game and note in them when we play and who wins each game.
Yesterday was pretty good. However I need to get my x86 setup for such events.
You are welcome to ask in #tuxhacker when ever. YOu seem to have got quite a few interested. I think you have made kluster addicted to games too haha
Hehe indeed. Not sure if getting kluster hooked or not is all too good, but oh well.
Games are a nice way of breaking the routine and maybe even letting some stress out, so it's good to do every now and then. Of course, same goes for sports, but who says we can't do both.
I used to play a lot of Ghost Recon, even had a few mods of my own out there
Then it was America's Army.. too bad they stopped making it for linux, I was pretty good given the fact my hardware was only giving me about 15fps.
Today I tried Enemy Territory, and on the first server I met Heinola (an old #linuxbeginner regular).. he likes games too.
So I'll be out there playing ET, nexuiz, openarena, and tremulous. Anytime you guys want to play, let me know. Same for wesnoth, I suck but I like it.
all your bases are belong to us
why am I posting here? I need to go pwn some n00bs
(ok I lied I am the newbie getting owned)
btw the skull in my avatar is from a 3ds model I made for ghost recon
Hehe nice. Looks like there are enough people who like games, at least occasionally to form a clan of some sort.
Maybe we should really do it. It wont be limited to any one game, but any Free Software game that has multiplayer support. Or we could make a list of good games that we "endorse". In that case I would suggest OpenArena, Nexuiz and bzflag for those who can play real time multiplayer and then wesnoth and netpanzer for those (like me) who can't play real time (and others who like those games too, of course).
Then.. we need to organize things a bit. It's probably gonna be loose, but we could simply write it down in this forum when someone plays and who won and how many times, each time someone who is a member of this forum plays with someone else who is a member here.
Then after the end of each month we could, if there were enough games played, just go over all the notes and see who's the best gamer and announce him/her as such for that month, just to boost some gaming egos.
Anyway, those are just some loose thoughts, what do you think?
I can do bzflag or wesnoth this weekend if anyone wants to play.
Just let me know here, maybe even tonight, and we can get together on IRC #tuxhacker (freenode) before the game.
Cheers
I'll be on #tuxhacker, waiting for people wanting to play wesnoth
.
Did you guys get a game. It seems you tried to. But I don't know the outcome.
netpanzer is interesting, but too little-played to have clans yet ;-)
edit: scratch that, netpanzer seams to have some established structure that requires website registration.
