I miss the good ol' days with Nuxified when the front page wasn't so busy and confusing, when the forums were more upfront on the homepage, when the forum post gadget wasn't so broken and almost unusable, and when the interface wasn't Drupal but was phpBB-based or a derivative.

We can improve that. With your help and actual suggestions we can do better.

We could put a few latest forum topics on homepage again as well.

But as for the whole "business" critique I'm not sure what to do to make it more acceptable and satisfactory for you. Removing certain blocks with links that you see as making the homepage too busy may end up with another opposite annoyance: where to find the content.

For example I could remove recent replies block and then people may start missing that feature and asking to get it back. Same goes for most of other blocks. But you tell me. I'm just one man and I can't think instead of dozen or more of you. I'm open to suggestions, as always.

If you don't like the WYSIWYG gadget don't use it. You're offered a choice in your profile. Click on the "my account" link in your right navigation menu, then the edit tab, and on the page that appears "TinyMCE rich-text settings" drop down link. There you can set the default state of TinyMCE rich text (WYSIWYG editor) to false.

It is disabled by default for all new users. The only reason why it's still enabled for you is because it was default before (after the switch from phpbb).

Now I'm thinking maybe I should get away with that TinyMCE thing altogether and have everyone use the plain editor instead..

PHPBB code is far from the cleanest code around and managing as well as extending it to anything above its most basic functionality is a pain and a constant risk. With Drupal we have some things we wouldn't have with phpbb, such as seamless integration between forum section and the rest of the site such as articles, screenshots, blogs and tips etc.

And it's also a differentiating factor setting us apart from most other Free Software and GNU/Linux forums.

I dont think the Recent

I dont think the Recent Blogs should be at the top left corner on the home page. I think the recent replys to topics would look better there.

Thanks for the suggestion

Thanks for the suggestion AndrewB. The "recent replies" block is on the right because right sidebar is displayed sitewide (including forums). If I put it on the right it wont be seen from other sections of the site where I thought it's quite handy.

But we can still move recent blogs...

Maybe even as far down as

Maybe even as far down as under "GNUs" would be better...
