This is a little progress report on our efforts to enhence the layout/design.

1. There is a new logo. It actually looks similar but the font has changed and this is the official PolishLinux font for now on.
2. There is a medias ection with banners with a few more banners that anyone can put on their websites to propagate We strongly encourage to do so!
3. The site layout has beed made a bit wider (100px) - it's not very friendly to those who use a 800x600 resoultion, but we have decided to do it since the new logo couldn't fit with the old width. I have been a strong supporter of wider home page and article pages for quite a while, so I'm happy our designer finally agreed as well Smiling
4. The interactive distro feature comparison page has been altered a bot as well. There is not sidebar on the right now, so the table is hopefully more readable.
5. We added a language bar in the top left corner which redirects to the Polish version of the vortal (and back to English) for convenience.

Hope you like the changes. Please comment on them if you don't agree with some decisions or have some more design/layout ideas.

I like it. I also like

I like it. Smiling

I also like sites that are wider. I actually prefer them to be full width hence making use of the whole of the available space. For those on lower resolutions even if the site takes full width it is not fixed so it scales to a certain point and still looks good and usable. Smiling

Anyway, I like your new font and it overall looks even cleaner now. Nice work.

With fixed width it's much

With fixed width it's much easier to have a clean and predictable layout. Also, the articles may be too wide to be easy to read when the width can be regulated by users. This is why the width is fixed. Anyway, I like it that you like it Sticking out tongue. Others?

yes, it looks good !

yes, it looks good ! Concerning the page width, it's probably better to base all sizes on em (font height) and set the font size in pixels, to have one single variable that can be changed by people with small screen sizes. I haven't done that in a long time though - because it's hard to create a good layout with relative sizes.
Best, accessibility-wise, is to use em only and not set the font size Eye
