I definitely must get a faster computer. My hardware is the only thing standing between me and these cool games.

well recently I updated to Linux 2.6.13 and the NVidia proprietary driver just stopped working (the latest version doesn't work with old cards, and the older version won't install under new Kernel). Maybe this is a good thing because I'm forced to get rid of propeirtary software Smiling, but this also means that I cannot play games like this either until I get a new card (maybe with free driver supported) Sad

TIP: Don't buy NVidia card!

I actually downloaded this yesterday just before sleep and wanted to try it, but it is just too damn slow on my onboard savage graphics chip so it's off limit for me.

As for getting a better card judging from what I hear ATI and Nvidia wouldn't be so great choices either. I don't want proprietary drivers. But I heard people have older ATI cards and they're supported natively by xorg so that might be an option. I think those are still faster than savage. Smiling

Still though, the other great shooter game, CUBE, works great here. Smiling

Well it's a "windows pc" because you have windows installed on it. Turn it into a GNU/Linux PC by installing GNU/Linux on it. Eye

Libervisico is right, Radeon R200 cards (I have a Radeon 9100) have free DRI drivers with 3D.

Yeah, those seem to be pretty strong. Nexuiz probably works good with them, right?

When I'm able to shell out for a graphics card I'll probably buy the latest of those series. Smiling

Thanks
