phpbb upgrade
Hello
I have just done an upgrade of phpbb from 2.0.18 to 2.0.19 version. However, I must apologize for doing it so abruptly and causing slight inconveniences. I thought I was prepared enough and that it is small enough of an upgrade that it'll be smooth and easy. To keep the present modifications we have an easymod installed that is meant to make keeping track of mods even through upgrades easier, but I got a bit over myself there.
Anyway, the remaining issues will be fixed soon (like that duplicate distro "Using:" line on the left of your posts). I will make sure next upgrade is much smoother than this. I will take some more precautionary measures and make an announcement before doing it.
Forums should be fully functional right now. Those remaining glitches are to be fixed now.
Thank you
Daniel

I am ob not 100% sure, but I think I was the only one logged on over the time period

I saw the protal go down, and i saw stuff like the 'Jabber' thing not work
No problem tho
I know what its like
Seems fine now libervisco, good to update things from time to time
I am ob not 100% sure, but I think I was the only one logged on over the time period
I think I saw few guests popping just about that time, and even one member registered (Murat54925), but I am not really sure if the portal was down at that moment...
Anyway, thanks for support guys. Any trouble with upgrading is not so much in phpbb itself as that's pretty straightforward, but all the MODs applied. Easymod may be a good way to keep track of that, but it doesn't support uninstallation of MOD's so after upgrade you've got something like few files are MODed and others aren't, that is, incomplete MOD implementation. That's already going beyond the scope of what easymod can do.
I've concluded it'll be best not to rely on easymod, but take some extra time to reapply hacks to the new files instead and then just upload them "ready made" to the server. This way, you may not even feel that there was an upgrade.
So, next time it should be much smoother.
Thanks
there are a few spam accounts, some of them link their homepage to advertising sites. They have no or one posts iirc, there is 2 or 3, maybe more
Actually, it seems there's only one such account, but I can't just delete them since I can't be sure of that. As long as they do no harm they can stay. Who knows, maybe they start contributing.
Nothing in the rules says people can't register if they don't post anything in any period of time.
Btw, libervis.com has alot more lurkers registered. Not all of them are spammers though.
fair enough, maybe we should e-mail them to make sure that they are interested, otherwise it isnt very good, some one could get tricked
How do you mean tricked? The only way I think they could influence someone is to post or PM people. If they do PM people abusively just report them to mods and they'll be banned.
OK then, I just meant someone could look on the memberlist, and go to some of the sites to have a look. Ah well, let's see what happens
Well they can just close it if they don't like what they see..
Anyway, I can delete improper spam signatures to deal with that. Hm.. I should add a sentence about that to the rules like "no signature spam".
I also do not think these people are a threat in anyway,
I like mr Bacon, was bowsing tho the list, and i saw 2 accounts, that are alike, tho i dont see much of a problem with their home page link. It is nigh on empty
Libervisco;
There is an option for a spam bot iirc in the admin panel
eg
the user must varify text shown in an image, to prove it is not a bot.
Maybe that would make users feel safer, tho i am with you on this one
