Used to run it on an ancient 486DX2. What do you want to know about it?

I don't know much about it, but I heard of it. It is a kind of UNIX from the old UNIX days, from what I know.

I remember reading about UNIX history on wikipedia where it was mentioned.

Here's some info I mozdexed out about it: http://plan9.escet.urjc.es/plan9.html

and its wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plan_9_%28operating_system%29

Thanks

My experience, it's another Unix. It's far behind BSD and Linux in many areas, but is interesting in a very odd sort of way.

It wasn't terribly useful for me, so when the 486 died, my Plan 9 install went along with it.

I wonder if (some of) it's new ideas make it into Linux 2.8 and/or the BSDs.

IIRC many of the plan 9 utilities were ported to linux and other unix resembling operating systems. I can't immediately find a link, though...
