I haven't tried it, but I'm wondering, if it is same as windows while windows code is proprietary, what's the legality of their code which is apparently GPLed? Where does it come from?
I actually wouldn't mind someone using React OS, or any OS for that matter that is Free Software and when they use other Free Software on it. For example, React OS may be used for running a good deal of Free Software applications that are available for the windows platform. Since React OS is Free Software and those apps are free too, it shouldn't present a problem
Technical concerns are another thing though since as a clone of windows it may be that it also has vulnerabilities of windows.

Actually the developers have recently suspended their project as their code is apparently tainted. At least four developers have had access to leaked windows sources.
This is not actually the end of React OS project, just a temporary suspension in order to review the code and make sure it's all legitimate and clean. They say they'll be back in about a year so those who were interested in this just have to wait, or find someone who has an ISO of the last version to send it to them.
I tried it a while ago in VMWare... it is still at a relatively early stage. I tried installing one or two programs, including SeaMonkey, without much, if any, success...
It looks promising, but isn't usable right now...
It's pretty much like windoze with no additional software installed. Not really exciting.

this is their annoucement: http://www.reactos.org/en/news_page_14.html
A lot of it comes from wine.
About that announcement: That really seems like a disaster for the project even though probably nothing bad happened.
Oh, ok, guess I will avoid it for a bit then, sounds a bit like it is going to stop soon :S
Here's a newsforge story about that: http://software.newsforge.com/article.pl?sid=06/02/01/1630225&from=rss

you can still download the ReactOS from the sourceforge.net:

Oh cool, thanks whistler and libervisco

I tried out the live CD a couple of months ago - it was bleedingly fast to boot, between 5 and 10 seconds.
The problem was, once I'd booted it, there wasn't much I could do, there were practically no programs installed and it was a bit buggy.
The worst thing was the art, all the windows looked like they were from Win98 but had gone through some GIMP distort script, they were truly horrid.
