Suggestion: New forum section about GetGnuLinux.org - opinions wanted
Hi !
I have had a rather long thread about a Linux website I wrote and trying to build a community around it.
The website is GetGnuLinux.org.
Following that discussion, it has been proposed to host a new forum section right here at Nuxified.org just about that website, trying to improve and further it into a modest "spreading Gnu/Linux" project.
Quoting what I have said in that thread, there are many things that could be done:
Organising my thoughts, I could identify the following areas for the project. I have more precise ideas, of course, but this is the idea.
- Making the site more robust.
Just looking at it with IE makes me scream. There are tons of things technically that could be done to reduce the size, avoid bugs, and look like pros. - Making the site truer and more relevant
Still one sub-page to add (will be done next month), but mostly re-organising, rephrasing, etc. One example is the Why not Windows section which takes either 3sec or 3hrs to read.
It's also important to get more printscreens, because my wording to differentiate Ubuntu and Suse really sucks. - More marketing
More buttons, better graphics, a smoother feel, etc. I'm sure to find many people for that. - Translations
that have to be very organised, so as to keep quality level high - Discussions/articles about spreading Linux around (not through the website)
So, to start with, we could have a few threads each talking about one such theme. From then on, a community could maybe grow, in the way spreadfirefox does. I still wish to state that I wish to spread free software and not funky or conveninent computing with Linux (what spreadfirefox mostly does in its own way).
My question is, would that be OK with you ? Daniel (libervisco) visibly agrees. What are your thoughts ? Would such a section fit well with the site ?
Unfortunately I will have no internet access for the coming week, so I will only be able to reply 24th of July onwards. I am still very interested in your answers.

I see nothing wrong with it personally - and I see it a great way to start building the comunity around the site.

that sounds like a good idea. GetGnuLinux.org is a worthwile project that needs help, and a forum here is a good way to organize and encourage that help.
It's a good project and should have a community to improve it. Anything to help in that direction is a good thing.

Great ! I am really pleased no-one opposes this. Let's give this project a try.
I'll PM Daniel (libervisco) and see if we can build this forum section soon. I have prepared three posts to start with.
