This is because Fedora Core is completely Free and Open Source software, and will never pay the MP3 patent holder (which shouldn't even be allowed to have that patent...) just to use MP3s by default. If they stuck MP3 support in, they would be a very big target to sue. So, you need a player that does not come with Fedora. I suggest Kaffeine if you have KDE installed. The easiest way to get Kaffeine is to run this command:
