Greetings everyone.

As you may or may not know, there is a new site in the making as part of Libervis Network, of which Nuxified.org is part of as well.

There is still an open question about the support forum related to the topic of that site. It will be about mobile devices running Free Software (e.g. GNU/Linux) as well as based on free standards. For a forum we have an option of hosting the forum on the site itself, MobiLiberty.com or hosting it right here on Nuxified.org, as a support forum for those who run GNU/Linux or Free Software on mobile devices (mostly phones, music players etc.) and support for those who wish to have their computer work with mobile devices (for example, bluetooth setup support for transfering files between your mobile phone and your GNU/Linux system).

So we could make this a separate forum on MobiLiberty.com or we could put it on Nuxified.org. Either way it seems like a fitting option. I am seriously considering hosting it right here on Nuxified.org though and I'm interested in your opinions about that.

If we decide to host this forum here, it wont be announced to news sites before the MobiLiberty.com will be officially launched (in its first "beta" form).

So what do you think?

Thanks

I think one merged help

I think one merged help community will be bigger and more effective than the separate ones combined. Someone with questions about phones may also have questions about PCs, and someone who can answer questions about phones definitely has enough technical knowledge to answer questions about PCs too.

I can't really set my mind on it...

A MobiLiberty-specific forum has the advantage of creating a stronger sense of community - as potential users won't have the feeling they'll have to mix with a wide free software community to join.
A Nuxified-hosted forum probably has the advantage of a stronger activity to start with.

Maybe you could start with a Nxfd sub-section, and later export it to MobiLiberty?

Well, the idea is to open a special forum for it which can also be in a special category. While it will be visible on forum index, it would be possible to export posts from it and import it into MobiLiberty if we ever decide to, because both sites run Drupal and database structure should be the same.

So the option of later exporting it to MobiLiberty would always exist. Maybe we should first try with Nuxified then and if it turns out it'd be better to be separate, export to MobiLiberty.

However, vice versa is possible too.. Hmm I'm not sure with what is best to start.. maybe with Nuxified subforum because there already is a community here?

Thanks

May I point out a tiny problem?
Do we actually have anyone aboard who is able to provide help for free mobiles? Anyone who owns one?

Right now I doubt it, but I hope some of the OpenMoko guys would jump in. Also, the forum can cover things like interoperability between whatever mobile phone you have now with your GNU/Linux system as well as hacking existing phones or mp3 players (like iPod) and installing Free Software on them etc.
