Add me to all six and any others. I am new at these games and haven't had a chance to try all the modes here. I would not be a good team player without some coaching for any that are based on teams (so I would opt out of team tournaments if no team is desperate to pick up a player). I had trouble with Tremulous. Figured out some strategy for the 3 solos and haven't tried the CTFs yet.

I am hoping for beginner's luck to carry me into the finals. Occasionally I can be tough but still generally get pushed around. We'll see.

As far as the schedule is compatible I'll try to join for Tremulous, Nexuiz and OpenArena, all modes.
I hope that the lag won't be too bad.

We'll be setting scheduling first matches ASAP, this week if enough people confirm here in time.

Ideally, everyone will confirm by the end of today and tomorrow so we can schedule and perhaps even do first matches on November 22, 23 and over the weekend.

I propose that we get some games scheduled and under way but that we give another week for confirmation slow-polks to schlep in. I think we need more time. Not everyone reads all or any postings.

It's not completely clear on the Gamefest homepage that the clock is about to tick to zero. Essentially, if I visit the site once a week, I would have missed that the tournament is hours from beginning. Really. Take a look. It's not at all clear.

There should be a large message in RED on the Gamefest homepage announcing the deadline for confirmation before forfeits start accruing (or outright elimination). Maybe set this deadline for a week from now, but do get games under way and let's see what scheduling will look like if we assume some more will walk through the door in the next week (if we accept this extension).

I second this motion and do vote in favor of it (of adding another week for confirmations and of getting games under way).

I propose that we draft two lists.

The first lists all the tournaments with all the players that "signed up" for each one.

The second lists the tournaments with those that have confirmed.

This allows the community to better gauge the situation and suggest scheduling scenarios.

Also, this makes things clear since posting what tournament you want may result in it being overlooked or you being placed on the wrong list by accident when the tallies are done manually (human error or misunderstanding). Think of this second list as a receipt confirming the enrollment transaction.

Those ideas sound good to me. I'll do it.

But note that the deadline for registrations is not the deadline for confirmations. So confirmations will take as long as they have to (within reasonable parameters). Ideally I hope we'll get everyone confirmed within 2 days so we can get started this weekend or before. But if we must we can extend this a bit further.

And yes, sure we can already get some matches started. For example, if the first stage for Nexuiz 1vs1 tournament involves groups in which everyone plays with each other we can form those groups from who already confirmed and have them play those matches while in the mean time accepting confirmations from which to form more groups to do the same.

So definitely good ideas.. but.. only thing a little bit puzzling to me is the way you just talked to yourself a bit there. It may be a joke, but it doesn't look very good and we shouldn't waste posts like that here.
