Croatian translation

I'm from Croatia so this makes me a potential translator for GetGNULinux.org and I am thinking of giving it a go because it would really feel nice knowing that I helped as much to bring the site to the Croatian reading citizenship. I can't promise top efficiency, but an hour or few here and there added to this project wont kill. Eye

I've been trying to find a place to start, however, looking at wiki.getgnulinux.org which keeps redirecting me to the translations section of GLM blog. I'd be fine with a wiki though so if you guys can just point me in the right direction I'd get it started.

Thanks

Hi, libervisco!I'm

Hi, libervisco!

I'm currently working on it: http://i18n.gnulinuxmatters.org/. That site will be ready soon.

I'm porting GGL's XHTML to DocBook, working on XSL stylesheets and documenting all of the projects hosted at the tracker, because I'm going to contact PHP and XSL developers to help us out: To make it easy for translators to do their job, we need PHP and XSL developers.

Hopefully, being a GLM translator will be much easier:

I suggest you wait until the new edition is ready, as there's basically just one thing left to use the new edition: XSL developers. Anyways, if you want to translate the current edition, I'll create another guide to port the translations from XHTML to DocBook.

Cheers!

PS: The upcoming edition of GGL will produce the same XHTML as the current one... Well, actually, it won't produce a exact copy, but the fact is that visitors shouldn't notice any difference.

Hi, That sounds great. I

Hi,

That sounds great. I think I'll wait a bit then. In the meantime I might do just a text translation of some parts or maybe a translation of http://www.lifesnotreadonly.net/ which doesn't have that much text on it anyway. That'd be at least to start practicing a bit and I can probably easily copy the translated text into the system online.

Cheers

Thanks!I've setup a svn

Thanks!

I've setup a svn repository for the Croatian translation of 3DS: http://svn.getgnulinux.org/3ds_hr/. You can keep track of this repository with our svn browser. You can learn more about svn here: http://dev.gnulinuxmatters.org/docs/svn/

Please, send me an email with the password you want to use on our repositories (the username is libervisco, right?). You can use my public key to encrypt it.

Cheers!

PS: My email is gustavo at glm.

I just translated the

I just translated the 3dollarSoftware.net index.htm. I put "translated revision 1" as a log message. I'm wondering if I should also translate contact.htm considering that croatian speaking people wont have anyone except me to contact about it if they are to do it in croatian.

I guess we can just have it translated, but specify that the actual message should be in english and alternatively that they can contact me and have me relay the message to you. But I think it'd be rare that someone who will want to get in touch wont know english and will need an intermediary to get to you... I guess then I could become an ambassador in Croatia. Smiling

Also, what about legal.htm? Would it make sense to translate that too? I believe laws are similar enough for those to apply.

That would be great! You'd be the first ambassador!

Once the translation stuff is ready, I'll work on the GLM Embassies website (this is where our ambassadors will be listed, among other things). In the mean time, please feel free to talk to Croatian-speaking people as a GLM Ambassador and redirect Croatian emails to your inbox (or, we can setup an email address if you wish).

Alright, that sounds

Alright, that sounds good.

I'm not sure to what further scope would I be able to act as an ambassador, but I guess just accepting Croatian emails and redirecting questions to you guys (or answering what you think I can answer myself) would be a start. So I'm up for that.

That's enough. GLM

That's enough.

GLM Ambassadors are people who basically act as "a bridge" between GLM and computer users. There exist many ways to do so and you can select any of them (answering non-English emails is one).

I'm sure you'll be a good ambassador, because you know the organization very well.

Cheers!

Hi, free-zombie! I'm

Hi, free-zombie!

I'm documenting everything I've done so far for future contributors to understand the source code (I should have done this from the beginning).

The XSL Stylesheets need special attention because I have no previous experience with XSL.

In the mean time, you can read how to contribute to Animador (PHP) and how to contribute to Metamorphosis (XSL) (none of these pages are finished yet).

I'll let you know when I've documented the most important parts (tomorrow, I think).

Cheers!

Libervisco, this is just

Libervisco, this is just fantastic that you translated 3dollarsoftware.org into Croatian. It's gone slightly uncovered due to the current mess/lack of presence I am working in, but I'll announce it on the GLM blog this evening. We also need a couple of flags on top of the pages =)
Thanks so much and apologies for the incident.

Olivier.

No problems. I didn't perceive any incidents. Smiling About a Croatian flag, this might do. It's in SVG so it can easily scale to whichever size is necessary.

Great. Smiling

If anyone speaking Croatian notices any errors in translation, or things that could be said better, just post here.

Cheers
