Finishing matches for OA CTF group 2

I just tried to log on to vector.cluenet.org:27961 (dm mode) and could not with the newest client nor with an older one. This has been the case for all 3 servers for a few weeks now. I did manage to play one 1-1 match (plus some practice games) some weeks back but that has been it. The client stays on the "Awaiting challenge ..X" screen as it counts for a while and I get bored of waiting. This is before I even get to the point of entering a password (for fun I tried the password at this point and it didn't work). The console says could not resolve name.

w1zrd, I should re-check, but I think they found a replacement. I'll keep you in mind though.

Jose, again? I thought I fixed that... Well cluenet is officially becoming annoying.. Can't they keep still for a single week!? :S

I left a comment over at doodle. The schedule is missing 12am to 10am (gmt+1).

Also, I listed my max avail times, but I would need maybe 2 days of anticipation to have time to adjust my workload (eg, I am usually busy sat, but can get much of that work done on fri).

Ok for Team 3 vs Valherus the likely time is 6 PM this saturday. There just needs to be one more V to confirm availability then. With all the active members Valherus has I think it should be likely.

As for Team 1 vs. Valherus, it looks like it could be done immediately after the Team 3 match, about 7 or 8 PM GMT+1 saturday. But Team 1 still needs to have Fliker09 and reptiler confirm...

Just want to mention that with such little advanced notice, it is difficult for me to make it on Saturday.

I'll wait and see what the rest of Team 1 does. Fliker09 has a really small window of availability, but there is some flexibility there. Come to think of it, the window is evenings GMT IIRC. I haven't heard from reptiler for a few weeks.

Well, saturday is over so it's obviously off.

But hey, as long as this is done and done fairly soonish. I'm hoping we can get that one match, at least, done within the next week. I'd be forced to set the deadline otherwise, but I'll let you know via email if I do that.

Btw, we just had a match between Valherus and Team 3 and Valherus won. Something is moving!

Both Jose and Fliker have entered their times and it looks like Wednesday (tomorrow) at 9 PM GMT+1 is the good time for a match. We just need reptiler to say if that's fine.

This Thursday only I am not available during the 11-24 hour block specified at doodle. Aside from that (if Wed doesn't work out), I could use a 2 day notice in particular if Saturday.

But today, Jose, you are available?

Wow! I just tried 87.230.26.228:33333 (ctf) and it worked. But :22222 (1-1) did not. Also, since forever (weeks) I have been trying vector.cluenet.org:XXXXX and also have not had success.

A reminder to all that the match is (tentatively?) scheduled to be played in less than 6 hours. If so, remember to start up the demo recording. Meet in IRC I think.

In about 5 1/2 hours hopefully we will all get together to play.

Anyone want to explain how to win CTF to me? Is the winner the team that holds the opponent flag longest?

No, you have to capture the enemy flag as often as possible. The team that captures enemy flag a certain number of times first (I think it's set to 15, but not sure) or just most times before a timelimit - wins.

So the point is capturing the flags as much as possible, not in how long you possess them. Of course if blue team has red flag and red team has blue flag, one has to kill the other to score and do a capture. Capture is done by carrying enemy flag over your own (in base).

Really though thanks for clarify that. I'm so glad I took the chance and asked.

So to verify and thinking about what I have seen. I can capture my own flag to keep it away from others. Then the goal becomes to shoot the person with the flag and take it or if it is at the base take it and bring it to your base to score 1 point.

Then the flag disappears I imagine and you have to go get it again?

I played one time (but I think it was nexuiz) and I remember the scores being huge (over 100), so I thought those were minutes with the flag captured or something.

Hey libervisco, concerning the IRC chat, I got pulled from what I was doing for a while. Sorry, to have left you hanging.

I did not mean a replacement for myself. I meant a temporary replacement for reptiler should it come to that. I can play. If reptiler comes back and wants to play and the temp sub also wants to stay in, I don't mind backing out in that scenario.

Fliker09: Sorry not to have showed up. I got distracted as the hour approached. I should have set an alarm. I really should have showed up, but I guess I fell asleep (figuratively) since I had heard nothing from reptiler even just hours before the match.

It's alright. I went to sleep anyway.

How about Saturday at the same time? I believe it was 10 PM GMT+1 or so. And if reptiler doesn't show we can try to find someone to replace him in the mean time.

Alright. This is enough advanced warning for me. Saturday 10 or 9 Gmt+1 should work out for most of us I think (I prefer 9 but can do 10 though it may not end up mattering by the time Saturday rolls around).

PS: Sleep works for me, too.. at least on even numbered days

Sorry for having been absent for some time, but real-life has been keeping me so damn busy lately.
This week I'll have more time, as I don't need to go to work. So I'll also be available at times where I usually was not available, meaning daytime HKT, and not only in the evening.
