Future of GLM, german GNU/Linux preloaded site and buying new PC

Hi,

What will become of the GLM organization?
Is financial help still necessary and if yes, for what will it be used now?

Also, where is the german version of http://linuxpreloaded.com/ ?

I found some interesting vendors which could be added to it:
http://www.uuu-shop.de/
http://www.tuxhardware.de/ (because compatible peripherals are also interesting)
http://www.hardwareshop-linux.de/
http://www.linux-onlineshop.de/index.php/cat/c231_Computer---PCs.html
http://www.linsoft.de/ (currently down, but I was on it just a while ago. They even offer a quad core PC!)

I plan on buying a new desktop PC soon, so I would like to be able to help GLM at the same time. Eye

P.S: I intend to dual-boot it with XP (since I already have a legal copy) for gaming, so I'm looking for something rather powerful (capable of running Supreme Commander or Crysis for example). Suggestions are welcome. Smiling

I don't know about the requirements of Supreme Commander or Crysis, but I actually have a quite recent game, GTA 4, and can play it in 1240x1024 with most quality-options set to "High" at decent speed.
My system is a Althon64 X2 4000, 8GB DDR2-800 (but I just have all that RAM for virtualiziation) and a ATI RadeonHD 4670 with 512MB RAM. Quite fun to play with it.

Judging from the last

Judging from the last email, GLM pretty much folded and GLM sites are just maintained as is online. Founders, Olivier and Gustavo, found new jobs which keep them occupied and other members are pretty much inactive as far as GLM goes.

That said, I think that so long as the sites are up I think that what GLM, especially Olivier and Gustavo, did is of great value. Even without significant modifications GetGNULinux.org in its many languages is probably the best introductory site to Linux.

And even if the worst is to come I'm standing by to host them as a backup solution, so they really shouldn't be going anywhere any time soon. Smiling

Hello, KIAaze

libervisco just said it all, we're both too busy doing other things... life goes on. Running costs (server+banking) are under control, I am just lacking time.

Again, if anyone knows of a serious proposal to further GLM's work or merge it into something new, you're welcome to get in touch.

Perhaps, in the future, I might spend time on the organization again. It would then move in quite a different direction, more Mozilla-like, with simpler content. But this is quite unlikely, at least in the coming four or five months.

keep well

Olivier.
