German domain almost ready

(I am starting another thread because the previous one was getting rather heavy)

The domain linuxfueralle.de is now secured and I have the required information from the previous owner, the last fax will be sent this afternoon. I expect the domain to be fully ours within 3-4 days; plus 1-2 days for the DNS information to spread across the web, making the whole thing ready by next Monday at the latest, I hope.

I think all that there remains to do is change the header graphics? I have added the source files on the "useful" repository, http://svn.getgnulinux.org/useful (access is with same ID as other repositories).

kudos!

Kudos on the translation, German translators!

BTW, is it time to implement the German translation tabs in the other websites?

The DNS information has now

The DNS information has now been entered by the registrar, depending on where you are, linuxfueralle.de points to our hosted space (or it will within 48hrs).

I have gone through the German site and it's nearly complete. I could note the following that are not complete:

  • Homepage graphic
says "Get GNU/Linux!", what should it be in German?
  • Homepage header information
  • Footer
the Firefox button should point to the German Firefox homepage with appropriate text, and the GGL button could have a German text
  • Page: Screenshots
  • Page: About (Ãœber uns)
  • Page: Legal (Rechtliche Hinweise)
  • Pages: Contact and Credits

That's all I could see... I went through all the tabs, links, CSS etc this morning... we should be almost done now.
Olivier.

sorry to bump this, but

sorry to bump this, but there's really nothing more I can do since I can't write proper German... 95% of the translation work is done, I'm confident the above can be finished very quickly...

"Wechseln Sie zu GNU/Linux" would be switch to gnu/linux
"Holen Sie sich GNU/Linux" would be get gnu/linux, but in a sense like "fetch gnu/linux for yourself"..

Hier sehen Sie sechs Bildschrimphotos von beliebten GNU/Linux-Distributionen.

Wie haben bis jetzt nur englische Bildschirmphotos, was aber nicht heißt, dass

I'd like to note that the first paragraph of legal isn't translated in french.

    Great, thanks very much. I

    Great, thanks very much.
I added the information myself, it's even more useful (much quicker) if you do it directly in the SVN repository.

    Now we're left with

    • header information for homepage
That's the short description in the meta tags within the HTML header of the pages. It shows up in the Google results
    • Contact page
      very little text there
    • Credits page
all you want to put in there, very simple
    • footer
If someone can translate just one footer (the code behind the buttons needs localizing) I can apply that to the entire site

The legal page can stay in English (I understand it's quite difficult and boring translation) but it'd be really great if it was translated too

did you mean the links to the CC license? It's corrected.

    thanks a lot

sorry to bump this, but we're really really almost done... the remaining translation can be quickly done, but I can't do it myself...
    thanks - Olivier.

    done?

i took care of the points mentioned. what's left (AFAICS):

    * Credits page should be completed. Freezombie, shall I add you as well? Does anyone know who this guy "Lemming" is, who contributed some text in the German Translation Wiki? He would deserve to get mentioned, too.

    * I have not changed the wording on the "Get Linux" and "Get Firefox" Buttons in the footer. The reason is simply that a German translation won't fit on the buttons Shocked( so it's either leaving them as they are now, or removing the text altogether...? I don't really know what's best.

    Besides that, I think we're about ready for a beta-test ;o)

Thanks very much Luzi. I uploaded the site, it looks great!
If everyone is happy with it, then we'll announce the release...
I'll try to set-up the German tabs on the other languages over the week-end. I'll also help with implementing the latest "nice-looking" modifications in the "Switch to Linux" section, but probably not before the middle of next week (I really have lots to do).

    Great timing.

I checked this afternoon (in the morning where you are ;-) ) and it wasn't up yet, because I linked a colleague to GGL since I could interest him in giving Linux a try. So today I gave him a CD with the current Ubuntu and pointed him to GGL for some information.
