edit: digg here!
We are just about to release LinuxPreloaded.com officially and we want to reach the homepage of digg with it
Quite ambitious I know.
The digg is planned on the evening of Saturday, USA time (they are the main body of diggers). This means late Sat. night/early Sun. morning around Europe, and possibly less practical times elsewhere.
We've got some wording prepared so please don't submit or announce anything yet. As soon as it's launched, we'll really appreciate if you and all of your friends can push the post up. Also get your mom and pop to join Digg if that's not done already! =)
Thanks in advance. I'll be posting right here as soon as it's ready.
Olivier.
I apologize in advance that I often need lots of time to reply to posts - thanks for your patience!

Well, Saturday evening there should be Sunday morning here. So I could digg it after I get up.
Can't wait to see the finished site going online, I hope it'll be another great success for GLM.

Yes indeed. I often get confused.
A mistake on my part (un-careful planning) forces me to delay the submission by 2hours - that's now Sunday 23d, 02:00 UTC.
Apologies,
Olivier.

It's posted!
It'd be nice if someone put a nice comment, having a good first comment (perhaps with a link to GGL and the GLM name) is often very useful.

Dugg.
Edit: Most Europeans are sleeping now though. I am one too, but I'm not normal.

Dugg it.
Wanted to leave a comment, but somehow that box seems gone. Also I get a JavaScript-error, which might be related to that.
I'll try again later.

Considering how well this digg worked compared to the one about the gaming tournament, I'm starting to wonder if it's not because of the title used.
The gaming tournament is still only at 7 digs:
http://digg.com/linux_unix/Nuxified_and_Cluenet_prepare_a_gaming_tourney_You_are_invited
Maybe it should have been titled "Free gaming tournament" or something like that since Nuxified and Cluenet aren't well known yet. (I didn't know them before freegamer mentioned the news. ^^)
It could of course also simply be because most people don't care about such a tournament too...
But well, even if we're only 20, it should be enough to have fun.

Well, none of the previous news we submitted to digg were published. This one, unlike others, talks about "Ubuntu"... That's a key difference.
From now on, we'll add "OMG", "Breaking" or "Ubuntu" to the title of the news we send to Digg.com

Unfortunately I think Gustavo is right. There is a weird psychological phenomenon going on at digg. A lot of people are aware that stories with certain words in their titles are getting dugg and usually criticize this, yet the majority of diggers still fall for it - probably every single time.
But this would make titles we put on digg rather lame. I mean, what should we call our tourney on digg then? An Ubuntu gaming tourney? Gosh I'm almost sure that'll fly, except for the fact that it isn't really just Ubuntu gaming tourney.
Maybe we should do a publicity stunt then. Maybe we should come up with a project that we would be able to promote in relation to Ubuntu or something else that usually gets dugg while not implying that the tournament is just for Ubuntu users. I'm not sure what right now though...

Digg is in a sad state indeed.

Thomas, I believe there's more to it than that. I'm slowly understanding this "sad state" as I realize the key to "traffic" and "success" on the Internet as a whole, has a lot to do with how provocative and clownish, if shallow, you are. AFAIR a single anecdotal post on GLM.org accounts for more traffic than the rest of the whole website. And the GLM blog has a much, much higher visits/work ratio than GGL at once.
I don't blame anyone. I admit that however "intellectual" I like to think my reading to be, there's always a part of me that is looking for distraction, in addition to stimulation. Sometimes (esp. when tired) that part of me largely takes over.
This of course explains the weird digg title, with "Ubuntu" instead of "Linux" (we coined that with a digg regular). To a larger extent, it also explains why it's "LinuxPreloaded" and not "GNULinuxPreInstalled". This is how the web works, and reaching may people comes at that price.
I'm tempted to conclude: "You have come to a sad realization, cancel or allow?"

Thanks to everyone who participated. It thwarted my sleep somewhat but was well worth it: we got 20+ thousand hits from Digg and satellite sites. That was exactly the attention we were looking for and it'll definitely help in the coming months.
Cheers,
Olivier.
