An idea for a website similar to getgnulinux, promoting the use of jabber (XMPP) clients instead of msn, icq and the lot is growing at libervis.com. You might be interested.
One of our upcoming projects is Unconstrained Communication (at unconstrained.info) and it's intended to make people understand how important are communications through open protocols. It would be an easy-to-grasp web page in which we'll encourage them to replace Skype by SIP and MSN/ICQ/etc by Jabber.
We'll work on Unconstrained.info once other projects with higher priority are done. As usual, its development will be open and everyone is encouraged to contribute.
We might contribute to getjabber.org (by spreading the word about it, for example). It might be the perfect complement to Unconstrained Communication, for people to get further information about Jabber (as we don't want to provide a comprehensive webpage on Jabber).
That's good to hear!
The name getjabber.org was only chosen to make clear what it is, I think irc should get some attention too. I'd likely make it freeconversation.net or openconversation.net
These days my health is forcing me not to spend too much time on the computer (not easy for a computer science student!) and then there are some other issues... I'm two weeks late with some work... so don't expect much to appear very soon. But I probably will build something nice once I can afford to use a different type of time than "relax time" for it.
