I am having problem with my graphics. When I setup wine using
winecfg, I get
$ winecfg
wine: creating configuration directory '/home/rscheng/.wine'...
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x23
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x25
... etc ...
It turns out wine is not the only one application getting
this 3D driver error. glxgears also get this error, i.e.,
$ glxgears
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4b
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x23
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x25
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x27
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x29
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x2b
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x2d
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x2f
libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x31
3831 frames in 5.0 seconds = 766.104 FPS
3745 frames in 5.0 seconds = 748.974 FPS
... etc ...
and a picture of 3 gears spinning pops up.
My video card is Intel 865 Chipset Graphics Controller.
I installed i915resolution via Synaptic (using PCLinuxOS 2007).
I tried
1) 915resolution 38 1280 1024 8
2) 915resolution 38 1280 1024 16
3) 915resolution 38 1280 1024 24
4) 915resolution 38 1280 1024 32
5) 915resolution 58 1280 1024 8
6) 915resolution 58 1280 1024 16
7) 915resolution 58 1280 1024 24
915resolution 58 1280 1024 32
9) 915resolution 34 1280 1024 8
10) 915resolution 34 1024 768 16
11) 915resolution 34 1024 768 24
12) 915resolution 34 1024 768 32
13) 915resolution 45 1024 768 8
14) 915resolution 45 1024 768 16
15) 915resolution 45 1024 768 24
16) 915resolution 45 1024 768 32
17) 915resolution 30 640 480 8
18) 915resolution 30 640 480 16
19) 915resolution 30 640 480 24
20) 915resolution 30 640 480 32
without success, i.e., same 3D driver error when running
glxgears. I also tried
9) changing the screen resolution from 16 bits to 24 bits
in the PC control center.
Am I doing something wrong? I'm stumped on what else to
try. Is my approach to solving the "3D driver" error
correct? Or there is a better idea?
The monitor manual quoted
The monitor supports the optimal display performance
