is there a list of new open source software that comes out? How do you find out about new software? digg? slashdot? I wish there was something like download.coms layout.

You mean list of new releases? Well, never actually looked for a site that lists all new releases of Free Software, but maybe sourceforge or Freshmeat can help.

I usually have a look for

I usually have a look for software on SourceForge, Fresmeat and KDE-Apps.

Also I have the Freshmeat- and KDE-Apps-Feeds on my summary-page in Kontact so I can easily see the latest software-news there right when I start contact.
