I've ditched quite a few blocks from homepage, reduced the number of homepage articles to 5 and put the links block in the footer. I think you wont miss to notice it is much lighter now, but the question remain will you miss the stuff that's gone now?

The recently updated topics block, now called "new on forums" is not on homepage anymore, but is on other parts of the site (because those parts don't feature the central "newest forum topics" block, naturally). For a better overview of what's new you can use "recent posts" from your user menu or the "show recent" link in the bottom bar of your browser screen. Smiling

This is all experimental at this point though and I can't guarantee it is the best usability solution. Some refining may be necessary. Your feedback on that regard is always appreciated.

It seems sane and light, thus I think it looks good.

Thanks dylunio.

I just added a small "recent blog posts" block, but on the center column and below everything (except ad block) displaying only 5 recent blog entries. The thing is blog posts are sometimes useful (even if short), but could be missed if noone remembers to look at the blogs section or check out the "all" or "blogs" part of the recent page.

It looks good. Some suggestions:

The user menu: recent posts, popular and unanswered have nothing to do with the specific user, so move them to the bottom bar or elsewhere. Rename the search link to "advanced search" and move it to the search block (of course the advanced search should be enabled by default on the page it links to, then).

The getgnulinux and polishlinux banners are in a strange place. Maybe replace them by smaller versions which could be put in the header (same height as "Forums Blogs Polls Shots Tips Home" but on the left side)? The polishlinux banner could also be put instead of the title of the polishlinux feed. Maybe do both things. Also find a better place for the ruffdogs banner.

By the way, you need to "loose" one o again Eye-wink

I'm not sure about moving that stuff to the header as it might have an adverse effect, making the header look more bloated.

The user menu isn't really just about the user. It is usually called navigation in drupal and the only reason why we make a distinction here is that we have a main horizontal menu, so this is for the rest of the stuff, a personal toolbox if you will. So maybe these items could better stay there than be moved to header or bottom bar.. I'll wait for others input on that though.

As for the ruffdogs banner, it does kind of stand out.. if ruffdogs guys don't mind I could move it on the bottom of the column like the GGL and PL banners are, at least right now..

About the search link, it already links to where the advanced search can be clicked. There's no special page for that as it's all there. I could add an "advanced search" link to the search box though..

I don't noticed they were gone until you mentioned them, so I guess I won't miss them too much. Laughing out loud

Stumbling upon one article from the popular "A List Apart" blog (which I've known about before), I've got a bit motivated and inspired to make certain usability improvements to Nuxified.org, further than I've done so far with all these blocks rearrangements and whatnot.

This time I have some constructive ideas about which I am quite confident. It'd be too long to go through it all now, but I might reveal parts of it later and as I work on making them happen. I am almost sure you'll love it! Smiling

It should overall be a few steps further to making this the best Free Software and GNU/Linux support site ever. Eye-wink

Cheers
