Modem detection

Modem detection

hi,
i buy sony vaio vgn-sz640 recently and install openSuSE on it, but linux not detect my modem and now i can't go online.what should i do?
sorry for my not well english and thanks!

Linuxant

From Sony's site, it looks like your notebook has some type of Conexant modem. Linuxant seems to be what you need. Take a look in OpenSUSE's repository to see if the software is there before getting it from that website (Ionno how to do this; I use Fedora). This tutorial looks helpful too.

You will probably need to download the Linuxant driver on another computer with working Internet, copy it to a USB drive/CD/any other portable storage device, and copy it from that to the notebook.
