New FOSS advertising
I've set up advertising with Ad bard Network which is an ad networked centered around Free Software related web sites, which is a perfect fit for Nuxified.org. So far Nuxified.org has mostly been supported by text ads while what graphical ads we had were mostly internal (advertising a sister site at Libervis.com) or exchange partnerships or support like c3pc.com, GetGNULinux.org and PolishLinux.org.
Ad bard is paid per click and has three formats, a standard banner now visible above, a block now visible on the right and text link ads (on the bottom right). This is still just a try out, but I have a feeling that the greater relevancy of these ads to this site may make them worthwhile.
Does this make the site have too much ads? Well, I'd say it's not any worse than an average ads financed site and is probably still less than most such sites since ads aren't big nor in the way. They aren't in the content interrupting your reading, posting etc.
That said, I did put the banner on top now, but that's above the content and not in the middle of it. I had to do it because it was practically invisible down below and easy to skip. We now have a banner put in a similar fashion on Libervis.com as well. I hope you don't mind.
And if you do, well, in our tradition of listening to users, let me know and maybe we can strike a compromise of some sort.
