In my routine scouting around the news, which often includes articles from Linux.com I noticed that it had a redesign and apparently introduced some new things as well. The aim seems to be obvious, to make it more worthy of being a "Linux homepage" so to speak.. Linux.org may be terrible, but after all, it is the .COM which people enter the first into their browser bars.

Linux.com now has a "what is linux" section, download section, distributions section and forums.

So in some ways they are similar to GGL. In other ways I think they'd be more attractive to enterprise users rather than ordinary desktop users.

So.. I guess yet again another site is scratching around the area that GGL covers so well, but not hitting it exactly. Still worth noting, just in case, hence this thread. Smiling

Interestingly I have an account there. :-) I'm gonna have a look around, maybe I found out since when and why.

And yes, the new design looks nice, though I don't really remember the old one. I didn't even remember I had registered there.

In my ideal world, linux.com would be the type of sites I'd often visit, instead of getgnulinux.org or gnu.org: In my ideal world, people wouldn't worry about whether their software is free or not, since it'd be obviously free.

Cheers.
