RMS actually does some coding

RMS actually does some coding

Don't ask me what got me to this topic, cause I'll tell you anyway. Sticking out tongue I was in #gnu channel asking for some advice on some important things regarding "strategy" and besides getting some great advice I was linked to an emacs-devel GNU.org mailing list. The guy wanted me to read RMSs personal corespondence and learn how he manages to talk to people without offending them.

Sounds surprising to you? I don't know. I'm giving that mailing list a chance anyway, but the point of this thread is to point to what I find as an interesting fact, that contrary to what many people say these days, RMS does indeed do software development even today, at least as is evident on emacs mailing list where he is active as it appears almost daily in normal development discussions.

It's just interesting.

RMS is renowned for his coding abilities. If you read his biography you'll read about how programming with him is so intense that you can't think about anything else at all:

If you scroll down to the last 4 paragraphs it's discussed there.

Also, XEmacs split because RMS was too protective of Emacs. He wouldn't allow any co-developers, everything was e-mailed via patches from everyone else. It was his baby, and it irritated people who wanted to get serious work done on it.

FAIFzilla

This might be a little more up-to-date.

If you haven't read that book, I highly suggest it.
