Has anyone built a web server farm in the shortest, least expensive route? I'm interested in:

  • One IP address, multiple systems.
  • One file system, multiple servers.
  • Can change settings so that when a server is finished with a request it can be blocked off to not receive future requests and can be taken offline.

The reason I ask is that I may come into receiving some old 800Mhz and 1Ghz Pentium PCs that need a new life with Ubuntu Server and some kind of cluster arrangement.
