Wide screen monitor in portrait mode

Hello every body:
I am trying to get my Xorg to display in portrait mode. I am able to do this but the desktop is never resized. How do I fix this ??
I have fedora 5, 86x_64

# /sbin/lspci

kcmshell display

1. Fedora Core 6 is out. You might wanna upgrade sometime.

2. If you have KDE, there's something in kcmshell display that lets you rotate your screen.

1- I am not looking to upgrade to FC 6.
2- kcmshell is exiting with error.
Session management error: Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols specified are supported and host-based authentication failed

A tool to start single KDE control modules

I can not foreget about rotating the screen and spend a day upgrading to FC 6, hoping that it works.
and I tried all the avaialbe tools but out of luck.
