Welcome Kilo. You have to

Welcome Kilo.

You have to install a "build-essentials" package on your Ubuntu. It is on your Ubuntu CD so you have to put the CD in, and then do "apt-get install build-essentials"

That will install what is necessary for compiling software from source, including KDE.

However, there is an easier way to get KDE on Ubuntu. Just update your apt sources file to include "universe" repository and then install kubuntu-desktop by doing "apt-get update" and then "apt-get install kubuntu-desktop".

Good luck! Smiling
