Writers team?

As previously discussed we plan on having some kind of a "content development" solution here.

As it presently is, the idea is to use an already built in article system for publishing whatever we write (such as tutorials or reviews) and have a team dedicated to writing these articles though of course still accepting outside submissions as well.

Articles that are done would be put in a special "articles" forum and that would mark them as "published". Any discussion in regard to making these articles can be in a special forum dedicated for that. It may be limited for view to only the team members, though it doesn't have to be..

The model, for those who may be wondering, is indeed much alike to the one on LFDO and that is admitable. There is no real reason not to follow that role model however, especially if we attempt to differentiate a bit (to the better).

So, is anyone willing to join as first members of the dedicated writers team?

Just for reference, a writer for this team should of course know how to write well, know english well, have good knowledge about at least some Free Software, free operating system, especially GNU/Linux and should be an active member of these forums.

The offer is valid indefinitely.

If you just want to submit a "one time" article instead of joining the team, you are free to do so as well. Just send it over to libervis [at] libervis.com for review (the submission process will be improved).

Also, if you already have an even unfinished draft of something, feel free to submit that too and we can help you finish and publish it.

As soon as we have first article to publish, a new articles forum will be open to host it. As soon as we have at least one other member (besides me) in a dedicated writers team, I will open a special forum for that too.

Thank you
Daniel

I have been told that I write well (by people who have read http://jollybox.de//toolbox/gentoo-amd64.en.php ). I would be willing to join a writers' team of some sort, but I lack ideas...

I'm glad to hear that. If that is official then the team effectively exists as of now (because I am considering myself part of it too since I want to write some stuff as well). What do we call it? Some suggestions could be "Nuxified Article Team" or "Nuxified Writers Team" (I like the latter).

Anyway, if that article from your Jollybox site hasn't yet been published through news sites, maybe we could have that republished here?

Articles on Nuxified.org will always be submitted to other GNU/Linux news sites like LXer.com, LinuxToday.com or Newsforge which is good as it brings attention to both Nuxified.org and the article. It's one way to build awareness of these forums.

As for ideas, whatever you know alot about and think might be interesting. Maybe you have recently tried a new distro? Then you could write a review on it. Same goes if you tried a new cool application that not everyone uses. Your article could help people discover it and learn how to use it.. So basically, software reviews and tutorials, but basically anything that technically relates to Free Software and can help people in some way to use Free Software on their computers with more satisfaction. Smiling

Thanks again
Daniel

Oh ok then. It was quite recent so it's probably better not to republish it again at this point.

So, is there anyone else who'd like to form this team with us?

Thanks

Libervisco, it'd be cool to be on the NXFD.org Wrting team, I'm on the one over at lfdo, but they don't seem to rate free software that highly.
I think I could do a few free distro reviews or something over here, as well as other things.

P.S. I like "Nuxified Writers Team"

That's great dylunio. That makes three of us already then.

If others think it's a good name for it, then I'll give you guys a "Nuxified Writers Team" title. Feel free to still suggest a different name.

I was suggested a "content development team" for a name, but I'm a bit vary of it because it is the name coined and use on LFDO.

How about making it more community-centered and allowing anyone to submit an article? Not everything will be published though.

Sure, the submissions are welcome and encouraged by anyone. The difference is that the team would be dedicated to writing articles and actively working on them while other non-team users don't need to be dedicated, but can submit something when they have it.

Of course, if a non-team users makes alot of submissions almost regularly, he can be invited to the official team.

Well, ok.. I'd be glad to have you on the team.

Once anyone who applied to the team actually writes something then we can call it official.

Okay guys.. Let's revive this. We currently have the following people on the team then:

    free-zombie (?)
    dylunio
    onlinebacon
    me

We can open a special writers team forum for any discussions specific to articles development. This forum may be fully accessible to team members. However I haven't yet definitely decided if it should be completely open to the rest or just limited or completely closed.

Limited would be something like having other members be able to post replies, but not start new topics.

What do you think?

As for publishing articles probably the best way would be to open an "articles" forum where every finished article can be published. It would also appear on homepage and in article view with comments actually being forum replies.

So far, few articles we've had (by supermike) were put in the forum matching its topic. However, I think it would be cleaner to separate normal discussion topics and actual articles. We can move supermike's article to this new forum.

Anyway, let me know what you think and I'll make it so. :)[/]

Any articles in the making? Smiling

I have added an articles forum for published articles written on Nuxified.org. When someone writes an article worth for wide publishing and posts it in any forum (like supermike tends to do) it will be moved there. Articles written by the writers team will go there too of course.

The articles in the article section are going to be displayed on homepage and will have an "article view" available (links displaying that view will be submit to other sites like digg.com).

I have also assigned rank titles to current Writers Team members, free-zombie, onlinebacon and dylunio.

I just created the writers team forum too and just need to set up permissions for it. It will serve the writers team to post unfinished drafts, article ideas and discussions regarding their development. Everyone including the writers team is also welcome to post this in a public forum that matches the topic if they want wider feedback for the idea. Everyone can submit articles this way too, but for writers team that forum will serve for stuff they first want to develop internally. It's your choice.

Any suggestions welcome!
